Workshop on Open-Source Tools for Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design

Open-source tools and open process design kits are becoming increasingly important in the field of integrated-circuit design, lowering the barriers to learning, experimentation, and early-stage development. On 16 November 2026, an IEEE CAS outreach event will bring this topic into focus with a dedicated workshop on open-source tools for analog and mixed-signal IC design.

Taking place at ISEL, Auditorium A, the workshop will introduce participants to the tools, methodologies, and resources that are helping make integrated-circuit design more accessible to a broader technical community. The event is designed for students, researchers, young professionals, and industry participants interested in understanding how open-source design environments can support modern semiconductor development.

The programme will explore current approaches to open-source toolchains and design flows, alongside the IHP OpenPDK initiative and its relevance for education, research, and prototyping.

By combining technical orientation with practical starting points, the workshop aims to support participants who are beginning to work with open-source IC design tools, while also providing useful context for those already active in microelectronics and semiconductor research.
