Laying the Groundwork for Portugal's Semiconductor Future

The official kick-off meeting for POEMS took place in Braga, marking the project’s formal launch. The event brought together the 16 consortium partners to initiate the work that, over the next four years, will lay the foundation for the Portuguese Competence Centre in Semiconductors: driving innovation and growth within Portugal’s semiconductor industry.

Throughout this period, the consortium will focus on establishing a national observatory and fostering a dynamic community of microelectronics and semiconductors stakeholders. Key objectives include monitoring the national ecosystem to identify gaps in talent, infrastructure, and funding, and developing a virtual platform to support the community with training opportunities, semiconductor solutions, and access to financial resources.

All activities will be closely aligned with European initiatives, ensuring that Portuguese stakeholders are connected to key resources such as the European Design Platform, EU Pilot Lines, the EU Chips Fund, and other Chips Competence Centres across Europe.
